Keep the frame laying flat for at least 6 weeks while roots grow. Then hang on a fence or door. You can even bring inside in winter. Makes an interesting table decoration with candles in the middle.
Water by placing in a pan of water for 5 minutes. Let succulents dry completely between watering.
Fertilize with 1/4 strength liquid fertilizer every 2 months.
How to make a Succulent Ball from cuttings
You will need:
-
Succulent Cuttings
-
2 hanging baskets, detaching the chains
-
Spagnum Moss for lining the baskets
-
Wire to tie the two baskets together
-
Wire cutters
-
A lump of polystyrene
-
Potting mix
What you do:
-
Remove the hanging chains from the baskets
-
Line the hanging baskets with the sphagnum Moss
-
Fill the baskets with potting mix
-
Make a hollow in one of the baskets and place in the polystyrene, this will improve drainage and ensure the potting mix fills up to the edge of the baskets
-
This is the tricky bit! Snap the two baskets together as quick as you can so you don't loose any potting mix
-
Secure the two baskets together with the wire
-
This is the fun bit! Start lining your basket with succulents. Don't plant too close to each other as you need room for growth.
The basket needs to rest for a couple of weeks for the cuttings to take hold. When ready, reattach one of the chains and hang your basket and add a couple more cuttings at the base.
Your masterpiece is done!
