Sage - Salvia officinalis (shrub)
Height 100cm. There are many varieties of salvia such as annuals, perennials, shrubs and herbs. This variety is an herb and is the best for culinary use.
Garden Planting:
Height 70cm Well drained, warm site. Prune in spring to keep a bushy shape as sage can become leggy as it ages.
Pot Planting:
Sage is not suitable for indoors but is happy in pots.
Harvest Time:
Best used fresh all year round.
Handy Herb:
To cover grey hair, simmer ½ cup sage in 2 cups of water for 30 minutes. Let sit and cool for a couple of hours. Apply to hair and leave on until dried. Rinse with water. Repeat Weekly until desired colour and maintain monthly.
