French Tarragon - Artemisia dracunculus (Perennial)
Height 80cm. A true classic herb called ‘The King of Herbs’ by the French. An ingredient in many sauces it is steeped in history and a must in every herb garden.
Garden Planting:
Height 70cm Warm and dry part of the garden it requires protection in winter. As it dies down in winter, mark the spot so you can enjoy again in spring. Space 45cm apart.
Pot Planting:
Likes being in a pot as it likes protection. Don’t water after plant has died down.
Harvest Time:
Pick leaves through the growing season. Can be frozen when not available fresh.
Handy Herb:
No modern uses apart from culinary although the ancient Greeks used tarragon as a remedy for toothache.
